Laura Dominick was born in Chicago and grew up on the city's southwest side. She attended J.F. Kennedy High School, and it was during this time in 1971 that her friend Bob introduced her to the practice of chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo. After attending a meeting about this life philosophy on January 8, 1972, Laura embraced Nichiren Buddhism with the SGI (Soka Gakkai International), an organization dedicated to peace, culture, and education, which she has practiced ever since. This philosophy emphasizes compassion, respect for all life, and cherishing life’s utmost value.  Laura spent 32 years working at her father's printing company until his passing from terminal stomach cancer. Throughout her life, she dealt with digestive issues and eventually sought help from a doctor of osteopathy. This led her to a nutritionist for live cell analysis, who recommended dietary changes such as reducing dairy and acidic foods, alongside eliminating gluten, which improved her health. She was also advised to try colon hydrotherapy, resulting in significant improvement.  Inspired by her personal experience, Laura became a certified colon hydrotherapist through the International Association of Colon Hydrotherapists (I-ACT) in March 2006 and has been helping others with colonics ever since. She is certified at the advanced level and is a member of the National Board of Colon Hydrotherapists, utilizing her expertise to impact many lives positively. What is colon cleansing?

Colon cleansing, also known as colonic irrigation or hydrotherapy. It is the gentle infusion of warm filtered water into the colon, to gently release toxins which helps cleanse which takes down some bloating and takes down  inflammation which is the basis of all disease.

How does Colon Hydrotherapy work, and how often should I receive treatments?

At Discovering Wellness, L.L.C., I use the FDA-approved Aquanet EC 2000, a closed system designed for safety and comfort. Your first colonic session will last about 75 to 90 minutes. During this appointment, you’ll complete some paperwork, and I’ll walk you through the entire process step by step so you know exactly what to expect. After that, we’ll begin your treatment. For hygiene and peace of mind, I use disposable speculums, which is the most sanitary method for colon hydrotherapy.

How should I prepare for a Colon Hydrotherapy session?

Preparation is key to getting the most benefit from your treatment. Here are some guidelines: •Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of clean, filtered water—ideally half your body weight in ounces each day. •Adjust Your Diet: For two days before your session and on the day of, avoid red meat and starchy foods such as bread, crackers, pasta, and regular potatoes (sweet potatoes are okay). Focus on eating fresh vegetables and fruits that support healthy bowel movement. •Great fruit options: Blueberries (low sugar, high antioxidants), blackberries, raspberries, apples, pears, plums, cherries, grapes, figs, dates, and prunes (though prunes may cause bloating). Avoid: Bananas. •Whenever possible, choose organic produce. •Exercise: Daily walking or other light activity is highly recommended.
